Unmet Need Statement

Unmet needs defined based on clinical experience.
Innovations are only valuable if they address an unmet need. It is therefore critical that the need be articulated and clearly defined as well as validated as being a big enough need to warrant the investment of time and resources.
As Clay Christensen describes - you need to find the "job" that needs to be done before "hiring" a product or service to address it. The Stanford Biodesign program has developed a series of resources to help teams uncover unmet needs and screen them to identify the ones to pursue. They focus on observing clinical practice and doing exploratory interviews with stakeholders. A few of the resources are presented below, but much more is available at the eBiodesign Website.
